    The Product Manager will act as the owner of Lipa Later’s product line, and will be tasked will be tasked with identifying innovative new product additions, carrying out market research and analysis, project planning, and working with a cross-functional team to ensure Lipa Later delivers the right products for its customer base at the right time. The role will involve heavily working with software engineers, interacting with our customers and working directly with the CEO.

    Key responsibilities will include::
  • Managing the entire product life cycle from strategic planning to implementation.

    About the Role:

    For this role, we are looking for a confident individual, with good listening skills who is organized and works well with minimal supervision.

    Key responsibilities will include:
  • Organize calling list according to the severity of delinquency – the severity of delinquency here will be determined by the loan amount; installment amount for short term loans (3 months and below) and client repayment history.
  • Call debtors before Due dates to remind them to make repayments.
  • Call debtors on due dates to ensure they repay.
  • Receive and record all Promises to Pay from debtors.
  • Negotiate for clearance of arrears/default with clients.
  • Negotiate for most agreeable Promises to Pay from debtors – most agreeable are those to pay within 7 days of the installment falling due for arrears and within seven days after calling for older defaulters.
  • Daily update Individual Collection Portfolio records – that is repayments made, Promises to pay made, demand notices sent, accounts recommended for repossession.
  • Ensure demand notices for debtors who did not keep their Promises to Pay are sent in a timely manner as per policy.
  • Follow up on Promises to Pay received.
  • Recommend clients to be repossessed based on the response received so far and the debt collection policy.
  • Who we are looking for: (Motivation, Experience, Skills):
  • You have at least two (2) years’ experience in debt collection or at least two (2) years’ experience in microfinance.
  • You are Proficient in MS Office.
  • Proficiency in usage of debt record databases.
  • You are a clear speaker with strong communication skills.
  • You are persistent and do not give up easily.
  • You work well with minimal supervision.
  • Key Performance Indicators:
  • Outbound calls to debtors made per day – Minimum 100.
